Data set of water balance elements in the source of the Yellow River and Qilian Mountains

This data set is a multi-scale data set of water balance elements in the source area of the Yellow River and the Heihe River Basin of Qilian Mountains, which can provide basis and reference for water resources management and water balance analysis. The data are based on the simulation results of SWAT model, and then analyzed and counted by ArcGIS and Excel software. The water balance elements include precipitation, snowfall, evapotranspiration, groundwater, soil water and runoff. The time scale includes annual scale and monthly scale, while the spatial scale includes watershed scale, river reach scale, sub basin scale, altitude zone scale and vegetation type scale. The data has been applied to water resources evaluation, benefit evaluation and operation guidance of artificial precipitation enhancement.

Runoff and sediment data from Shigatse runoff plot in 2021

The runoff plot is located in Shigatse, the Tibetan Plateau. The area had a serious soil erosion and large areas of low cover vegetation. Therefore, the runoff plot was constructed to monitor the soil erosion. The runoff plot had a length of 10 m, width of 5 m and a slope of 30°。 The vegetation coverage is low. The fully automatic runoff and sediment instrument was used to measured the runoff and sediment process. The temporal resolution varies with runoff process and had a high resolution when the water level changed rapidly. The measured results can provide the data support for the soil erosion in the Tibetan Plateau.

Dataset of discharge and meteorological data of Duodigou Alpine Runoff Experimental Basin on the Tibet Plateau (2018-2021)

This dataset provides the monitoring data of runoff, precipitation and temperature of the Duodigou Runoff Experimental Station located in the northern suburbs of Lhasa city. Among the dataset, there are two runoff monitoring stations, which provide discharge data from June to December 2019, with a data step of 10 minutes. There are five precipitation monitoring stations, which provide precipitation data from 2018 to 2021, with a data step of 1 day. There are eight air temperature monitoring stations, which provide air temperature data from 2018 to 2021 in 30 minute steps. The discharge, the precipitation and the temperature data are the measured values. There are two hydrological stations in total: 1. Longmen hydrological station in the middle reaches of the Yellow River is the high-resolution (weekly) sample data collected in 2013, and the element concentrations include K, CA, Na, Mg, SO4, HCO3, Cl, etc. The cation data of collected water samples are tested on ICP-AES of Institute of earth environment, Chinese Academy of Sciences, and the anion data are tested on ion chromatograph (ics1200) of Nanjing Institute of geography and lakes, Chinese Academy of Sciences. The uncertainty is within 5%, and HCO3 is tested by titration. The high-resolution (weekly) Li isotope data of river water was tested in MC-ICP-MS of Institute of earth environment, Chinese Academy of Sciences in 2017, and the test accuracy 2sd is better than 5 ‰; 2. Tangnaihai hydrological station on the Yellow River is the river water (month by month) data set collected from July 2012 to June 2014. The major element concentrations include K, CA, Na, Mg, SO4, HCO3, Cl, etc., and the stable isotope data include s, O and H. The data set can be used to study the modern weathering process under the background of the uplift of the Qinghai Tibet Plateau, and provides the first-hand reliable data for the study of physical erosion and chemical weathering in the basin.
