Use & Copyrights
By accepting and downloading datasets from this website (Big Data System for Pan-Third Pole, or BDSPTP for short), the data user agrees to abide by the terms of this agreement. The data owner shall have the right to terminate this agreement immediately by written notice upon the data user's breach of, or non-compliance with, any of its terms. The data user may be held responsible for any misuse that is caused or encouraged by the data user's failure to abide by the terms of this agreement.
Conditions of Use
1. Redistribution. The Data User will not redistribute data or documentation without permission from the BDSPTP.
2. Citation. It is routine professional ethics to acknowledge the work of other scientists. Thus, the data user will properly cite the data set in any publications or in the metadata of any derived data products that were produced using the data set. We will do our best to provide the original source information in metadata for data of source from other departments.
3. Notification. The Data User will notify the designated Data Resource Provider (see metadata) when any derivative work or publication based on or derived from the data and documentation is distributed. This notification will include a citation for the derived work. The citation will be incorporated into the metadata for the data set.
You may download and use any imagery or text from our Web site, unless it is specifically stated that the information has limitations for its use. Please credit BDSPTP.
We request that users of BDSPTP data cite the use of our data in their work.
Citation of data acquired from BDSPTP acknowledges data contributors, and allows us to track the use and impact of our data, to more effectively report data distribution activity to funding agencies, and to assist other users who may contact us with questions about data that are referenced in publications.
Please note that we prefer that users include a citation in the references section of the publication. While we appreciate acknowledgement within the text of the publication, we are better able to track the use of our data sets if citations are included as references.
Appropriate citations are displayed on the catalog pages for many of our data sets. If you would like to cite data for which a citation is not provided, please contact us for help.
Further, we request that users send us one reprint of any published work for our library collection. This helps us to stay aware of how our data are being used by the user community and helps us to build our library collection.
The metadata documentation has been reviewed for accuracy and completeness. The data are considered to satisfy the originating Research Station's quality standards relative to the purpose for which the data were collected.
However, the BDSPTP cannot assure the reliability or suitability of these data for a particular purpose. The act of distribution shall not constitute any such warranty, and no responsibility is assumed by the BDSPTP Service for a user's application of these data or related materials.
The metadata, data, or related materials may be updated without notification. If a Data User believes errors are present in the metadata, data or related materials, please contacts the distributor to notify the BDSPTP of the issues.
