Qilian Mountains Integrated Datasets Published

Seventy-six datasets, produced by a field network in the Qilian Mountains that integrates space, drone and ground-based monitors, were successively published from May to September 2019 on the National Tibetan Plateau Data Center website (

The datasets include the following three types:

(1) 44 ground observation datasets from 20 stations in the Qilian Mountains in 2018, including flux observation datasets of sensible heat flux, latent heat flux and carbon flux, etc.; hydrologic and meteorological observation datasets such as wind, temperature, humidity, pressure, precipitation, radiation, soil temperature and humidity profile, soil heat flux, and surface radiation, etc.; observation datasets of vegetation parameters such as vegetation coverage, phenology and leaf area index; and one biodiversity survey dataset.

(2) 27 datasets of medium and high-resolution remote-sensing products covering the ecological environment in the Qilian Mountains every five years from 1980 to 2017 and the current situation (2018), mainly including basic products such as land coverage/utilization, digital elevation model (spatial resolution of 30 m), vegetation index, vegetation coverage, leaf area index, primary productivity of vegetation and other vegetation parameter products (30 m) , glacier distribution (30 m), water index (30 m), soil moisture (0.25 °/0.05 °), surface evapotranspiration (0.05 °/0.01 °), albedo (8 km/1 km), surface temperature (0.05 °/0.01 °), and other hydrological products and human activity products (30 m), etc.

(3) 5 datasets of GF ecological environment remote-sensing products mainly based on the current survey of key areas in the Qilian Mountains in 2018, including land use coverage/utilization (spatial resolution of 2 m), digital elevation model (5 m), vegetation parameters (8 m, including normalized vegetation index, vegetation coverage, net primary productivity of vegetation, grassland biomass and forest volume), hydrological products (2 m, glacier distribution, etc.) and typical human activity products (2 m, including mining, hydropower construction, tourism development, etc.).

These published data have been processed using unified geometric correction and strict quality control, and have passed peer review by data review experts. Users can apply to use these data through the National Tibetan Plateau Data Center.
