The precipitation database of the Third Pole region (1951-2010)

The precipitation database of the Third Pole region contains seven indicators: precipitation, corrected precipitation, correction factor, wind-induced loss, evaporation loss, wet loss, and trace precipitation. The data set includes precipitation data from stations in the Third Pole region.

(1) The precipitation data in China were obtained from the China Meteorological Administration-National Meteorological Information Center (http://data.cma.gov.cn/site/index.html).

(2) The precipitation data in other countries were obtained from NCDC International Climatic Data Center - NOAA Satellite Information Service Center (http://www7.ncdc.noaa.gov/CDO/country), Pakistan Meteorological Administration, Nepal Meteorological Administration, etc.

The raw data have been strictly quality controlled by the relevant meteorological departments and have been published in relevant academic journals. Due to the different specifications of the meteorological data sets from different nations, it is necessary to unify the meteorological element units before applying corrections, so the units of temperature, wind speed, and precipitation were standardized to °C, m/s, and mm, respectively.

The data set contains 2 tables:

Daily precipitation data in China in the Third Pole region.

Daily precipitation data in other countries in the Third Pole region.

The two tables contain the following fields: station number, date, observed precipitation, corrected precipitation, correction factor, wind speed loss, evaporation loss, wet loss, and trace precipitation.
